Sculptor Randy Takaki,
born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii, works in a converted
garage on the misty rain forest slopes of Kilauea Volcano. There his
sculptures emerge from various materials at hand. Whether
carved from rare tropical woods, molded from wire fencing, drawn
with motor oil on plywood, or scraped from the rust on a discarded
roof panel, these figures take their quietly powerful form. |
