Joseph Campbell once described the shaman as an individual who, through trauma experienced at some critical developmental phase, finds the given psychological consensus intolerable.  Unable to survive the inherited context of social negotiation, the shaman reconstructs the world from within, transforming the meaning of perception, renaming the road signs of social intercourse toward a survivable paradigm.

Jeannie Cartabiano represents the familiar in unfamiliar context, questions the obvious, and reframes the utterly known, synthesizing disorientation within the stultifying presumptions of consensus.
