My work is about change: constant change as the natural order of life within the harmonious whole.

In Japan, in the late seventies and early eighties, I made these embossed photo engravings to express this theme. In them, a few people still wear traditional Japanese kimonos but most wear Western clothing - changing. Everyone is going somewhere, leaving their embossed positions and heading off. Where? To see the world as it turned out, when the prints traveled around Japan, to Europe, America, and Australia.

These prints were published in the book "Japanese Prints Today" and have been collected by the San Francisco Museum of Art and the Millberg Gallery for Graphic Arts at Princeton University.

I hope that you enjoy seeing them at idspace. - Shingo Honda
