 Iga Cylinder With Torn Lip

These Iga pots are fired multiple times like some of the Iga pots from the Momoyama Period (1573-1615) in Japan.  This cylinder , situated in the firebox during firing, exhibits a burnt texture where it was burned by coals.  Above the coal level, the temperature was higher allowing the wood ash to vitrify.

15"h x 6"w     $1,675.00

Iga Pot With Ears

Iga Pot With Copper

Like the previous piece,
this form  has a burnt texture on its bottom
half.  The top portion
was smeared partially
with copper oxide that dripped red.
