The Volcano Village Artists Hui presents Artists in Action, a day of free
demonstration and hands on activities. These will include demonstrations of
pottery making, the many wonderful possibilities of accordion book making,
paper collage, Japanese paste paper, and more. It's all free and fun, with
opportunities to try your hand at a variety of creative projects. A
delicious gourmet lunch will be available for purchase.
Participating Artists Hui members will include Lisa Louise Adams, Pam
Barton, Cynee Gillette-Wenner, Emily Herb, Michael and Misato Mortara, Ira

“Edges”, is an exhibition of new works in a multitude of media by members of
the Volcano Village Artists Hui. The show will run from May 7th - 31st at
the Wailoa Center in Hilo with a gala opening reception on Friday, May 4th
from 5 pm to 7 pm. How these respected artists bring attention to, interpret
and express the particular edge they are exploring is sure to delight the
senses and expand the mind.
Participating artists will include: Lisa Louise Adams, Margaret Barnaby, Pam
Barton, Mary Goodrich, Emily Herb, Zeke Israel , Elizabeth Miller, Michael
and Misato Mortara, Ira Ono, Debra Serrao, Randy Takaki and Eric Wold.

Over Thanksgiving weekend, on November 23, 24, & 25, 2012, the Volcano
Village Artists Hui will host their 26th annual Art Studio Tour & Sale.
Visitors are invited to meet the artists in their studios, and see artworks
in a wide variety of media. Pottery, raku masks, hand blown art glass, wood
& metal sculpture, hand tooled metal, and fiber art as well as photographs,
paintings, drawings and block prints will be on display and available for
purchase. A special drawing for pieces contributed by the artists will be
held on the last day of the event. Tour hours are Friday, Saturday & Sunday,

"The Art of Learning" is a program, sponsored by the Society for South Kona's Education and Arts, that takes the arts to public schools in South Kona. The program brings teaching artists to the classroom to assist with either new lesson plans or to augment regular class curriculum. SKEA matches teachers and artists, assists with curriculum integration, funds the artist's classroom time and any specialized materials needed.
