“Lines in the Sand”
Photography by Christina Heliker

Christina Heliker is a retired geologist who worked at the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory for 23 years. After taking thousands of photographs of lava, she now has turned her camera to other subjects. The exhibit “Lines in the Sand” focuses on the intricate patterns and forms created by sand-from the dunes of Death Valley to the black-and-white sand beaches of Puna.
